Volunteer Positions at Mission Empower

Thank you for your interest with helping Mission Empower fulfill our mission and achieve our vision.  We have several volunteer areas for you to consider. Please review the description and qualifications for each one below. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the volunteer form and we will contact you.

Parent Partner
 		Persons who are passionate, good at problem solving and want to make a difference in a families life and who can commit to serving at least 10 hours a month. Parent Partners must be willing to attend classes dealing with education law, problem solving, and communication strategies. Parent Partners will be mentored by a senior advocate before going out on their own to assist other families.
Community Story Tellers
 		Needed family members of and people with disabilities passionate about changing their community to include every one. Mission Empower will train volunteers to tell their story so that the community is enriched to understand the need for inclusion. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in school assemblies and community presentations that will include skits, panel discussions or activities used to demonstrate disability.
Mentors
 		Needed, adults with and without disabilities who are passionate about inspiring and encouraging youth to reach their full potential and to be groomed for success. Mentors come in all shapes and sizes. The only requirement is that you are willing to share your knowledge and to encourage youth. Mentors and mentees will be paired according to their interests and must participate in a mentoring seminar. There is a commitment of four to 8 hours a month to the mentee.
Event Planner Guru
 		Needed, persons who enjoy throwing parties can put their skills to use planning community events such as the annual picnic or fund raising event. Must be creative, be able to work with a limited budget, like to schmooze, and able to multi-task.
Organizing Czar
 		Needed, people who have a talent for keeping people and systems organized. The most efficient organizations have people behind the scenes who keeps things going by maintaining order. Mission Empower is looking for talented people who like to file, update databases, and create systems to keep information organized.
